“How to Wind a Hank of Yarn into a Ball- Method-2”, here is the another simple method to wind a yarn into a ball. In the previous post we saw how to prepare the hank for winding and First method of winding. Today’s method is also suitable for very beginners who have never wind a hank. For this method you will never a piece of cardboard. You can replace the card board with a piece of paper, so lets get started…
Hank to ball with cardboard inside- Method -2
Step 1: Take a piece of cardboard around 1″x 1″.
Or you can take a piece of paper about 4″x4″ and fold it in the way shown above.
Step 2: Hold yarn over the cardboard.
Step 3: Start wrapping the yarn around the cardboard, wrap around 20-25 rounds.
Step 4: Rotate the cardboard 90 degrees and start wrapping, again wrap 20-25 rounds.
Step 5: Now rotate the cardboard 45 degrees and wrap 20-25 rounds around.
Step 6: Again rotate the cardboard in 90 degrees and start wrapping, after few round your cardboard will be fully covered.
Step 7: Change directions of yarn every 15 to 20 rounds so you are wrapping over a different area and keeping the shape nice and round. Continue until all of the yarn mass is wrapped into an easy to manage yarn ball.
This method is suitable for the beginners as because of cardboard it becomes easy to wrap. The next two methods are center pull ball methods which requires little experience, ones you master this or the previous method you can try center pull method-1 or center pull method-2.
