Hello Dear Readers,
“How to wind a Hank into a Center Pull Ball- Method 1”, center pull method is the most convenient way to use the yarn. There are couple of reasons why knitters or crocheters like center pull method more over normal ball method-
- With this type of ball it is less likely to tangle or to unwind the yarn too quickly.
- The ball does not roll over here and there when you pull the yarn while working.
- In normal ball, the yarn end which is inside comes out at the last so it remains squished in there for a long time. So over time it can affect the elasticity of the yarn, which changes all kinds of important things like the yarn’s gauge and the drape of the yarn.
Lets get started!
Center Pull Ball- Method-1
Step 1: Hold the yarn end with thumb and index finger.
Step 2: Grasp the loose end of yarn firmly between back fingers and palm of left hand, about 6″ to 8″ from the end.
Step 3: Wind yarn around thumb and index finger in number 8 fashion.
Step 4: Wrap around 20-25 rounds in the same way.
Step 5: Connect thumb and index finger tips.
Step 6: Pull all loops from both fingers together outside.
Step 7: Holding the folded bunch between thumb and index finger, wind the yarn loosely around both yarn and fingers.
Step 8: Keeping thumb in center, continue to wind yarn, turning the ball constantly so it will be round.
Step 9: When it is 3″ across, remove your thumb, but be careful not to wind over the center yarn.
Step 10: Continue winding loosely until all the yarn is taken up.
Step 11: Then tuck the final end into the ball.
Your center pull ball is ready to use.
