Double Triple Crochet Stitch with step by step photos and video tutorial. Double Triple Crochet stitch (dtr); is a taller stitch than triple crochet stitch. You can make an even taller stitch, triple triple crochet, by adding yet another yarn over at beginning. The stitch becomes more and more open.

First of all you will need some chains, if you don’t know how to make chains please check my previous post on How to make the Chain Stitch or see this video.
Step 1: Wrap 3 times yarn around the hook and insert it in 6th chain from the hook.
Step 2: Catch the yarn and draw a loop through the chain- now we have 5 loops on the hook. Then wrap yarn around the hook and draw loop through first 2 loops on the hook; thus leaving 4 loops on the hook. Again wrap yarn around the hook and draw loop through first 2 loops on the hook; thus leaving 3 loops on the hook. Again wrap yarn around the hook and draw loop through first 2 loops on the hook; thus leaving 2 loops on the hook. Again wrap yarn around the hook and draw loop through remaining 2 loops on the hook. This completes double triple crochet stitch.
Generally one double triple crochet stitch is made in each chain across the row. After last stitch make chain 5 and turn the work.
Then wrap 3 times yarn around hook and insert hook in 2nd stitch and make triple crochet and that begins the second row of the work. Similarly complete the desired number of rows.
Note: 5 Chains at the beginning of each row are considered as a first stitch in double triple crochet so always insert hook in 2nd stitch and begin the row.

I hope you enjoyed this post, please let me know your comments they are really valuable for me!
Thank you so much Sue to bring that to my notice. I have corrected the same in post now.
After giving instructions for dtr crochet stitches you said ch 5 turn n triple crochet in all sts across instead of dtr which is what you were giving instructions for. Thought you might like to know.
I needed to make sure I was doing the dtr st correctly for a doily I am making.
Thank you Leanne. The illustrations are made in photoshosh and others are my clicked photographs. 🙂
