Hello Crochet Lovers…
Lets start crocheting with the very basic geometric shape- Circle. As you have learnt the basic of crocheting geometric shapes worked in rounds, this is the next step to that.
NOTE: This example is in double crochet but any stitch is suitable.
How to crochet Circle- Crocheting Geometric shapes worked in rounds
For circle we need to crochet either Concentric rounds or spiral rounds. Here we will learn circle with concentric rounds. For concentric rounds, the important thing is enough increases to keep edged from curling. The number and placement of increases may have to be adjusted for a particular yarn, hook size, or stitch that is used, but a general formula is to increase each round by the number of stitches that we started with.
Crochet Abbreviations/Terminology here.
Example:
Ch 6 and join in a ring with sl st
Round 1: ch 3, 11 dc in ring, sl st in top of beg ch (total 12 sts)
Round 2: ch 3, 1 dc in sl st, 2 dc in each dc of Round 1, sl st in top of beg ch (24 sts)
Round 3: ch 3, 2 dc in next dc, (1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc) 11 times, sl st in top of beg ch (total of 36 sts)
Round 4: ch 3, 1 dc in next 2 dc, (2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next 2 dc) 11 times, sl st in top of beg ch (total of 48 sts)
To Continue, increase in every 4th dc on Round 5, 5th dc on Round 6 and so on, increasing a total of 12 stitches every round.
I hope this makes it clear but for any doubt please leave a comment below or drop an email.
