How to make your own Buttons, a very important thing to learn if you are making stuff for infants or younger babies. As a mother I know, how much it worries to a mother if we see broken plastic button. The first thought comes has baby put it in mouth?
It is a very good practice to use soft yarn buttons (preferably cotton with no harmful colors) for baby dress and accessories. As per my experience babies aging from 4 month old to 2 to 2 and half years, like to put everything in mouth. It could be due to teething or mere exploration but this is very difficult time for parents to keep baby safe. And something like button from their accessory could be the first interesting thing for curious baby.
I remember when our angel started putting things in her mouth, I had changed all possible buttons into cotton yarn buttons 🙂 This way she was enjoying chewing buttons and I was also tension free.
I highly recommend everyone who makes baby stuff to use yarn buttons. The size and thickness of this button depends on the weight of your yarn. In this post I am sharing my simple way of making your own fully safe Buttons at home with step-by-step photos, instruction card and video tutorial.
