I had gone to India, home town, for my delivery and after delivery when Angel became 5 months old we came back to Bahrain. If you know about middle east then you would probably be aware of its extreme climatic conditions. It will be too windy and cold in winters and on the other hand extreme hot in summer; you can not sustain without air conditioner, which again means exposed to cold air.
As Angel was 5 months old I wanted to keep her warm but she hated coats or winter-wears (probably like most of the babies, they just hate anything on them); even when she was sleeping her hands will be up next to her head not covered in blanket. So always exposed to cold, that is when I designed this hand warmer. She liked them because it was not full coat or sweater that she needed to carry and it kept her hands warm while napping. Now she has become 2 and half years old but now also she likes to wear them, moreover sometimes she wears them herself and shows me.
This hand warmer was not complete as I was busy with writing tutorial and shooting videos but she was wearing it, she likes them so much. 🙂
This hand warmer is very easy and quick to do, so perfect for crochet newbie to try, convenient for busy moms as they can enjoy their skill in spare time and have very useful product ready for their loved baby or for people who loves to crochet but can not find time because of busy schedule as you can do this on one weekend. 🙂

Abbreviations used:
Gauge:
with 2.5 mm crochet hook-
6.5 sc = 1″ or 2.5 cm
9 sc rows = 1″ or 2.5 cm
with 3.5 mm crochet hook-
5.5 dc = 1″ or 2.5 cm
3 dc rows = 1″ or 2.5 cm
Note:
-
- Lay your chain out flat, but not stretched to measure it. Once you start crocheting, the chain will tighten up a bit, resulting in a slightly smaller circumference.

Finished Size :
Wrist band diameter – 15 cm
Wrist band height – 2.5 cm
Forearm diameter – 18 cm
Forearm height – 10 cm

Pattern Grading:
If you want to reduce or increase the size of finished hand warmer then follow these instructions-

- Increase or decrease number chains at the start to get desired wrist size but keep total number of chains to multiples of 3.
- Increase or decrease diagonal pattern lines to get desired length
Material:
Dark Color 4 ply yarn- almost 25 m
Light Color 4 ply yarn- almost 75 m
Description:
Wrist band-
Start with dark color yarn and 2.5 mm crochet hook.
Make chain 39, insert hook in first chain and make slip stitch. This forms a circle of 39 chains. 
R1: Ch 1, 1 sc in each chain (39 sts), Sl st in first ch. 
R2 to R6: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st (39 sts), Sl st in first ch. 
R7: Ch 3, 1 dc in each st (39 sts), Sl st in ch. 
Forearm-
Change hook to 3.5 mm and connect light color yarn. If you want to learn how to change yarn, watch the video below.
R8 to R17: Ch 3, 1 dc in next st, 1 dc in st prior to ch 3 (this forms the diagonal st pattern), *sk 1 st, 2 dc in next 2 sts, 1 dc in skipped stitch*, repeat * to * 11 times (total 13 numbers of diagonal st patterns), Sl st to complete the row, again Sl st in next st- now you are at the middle of diagonal stitch below.
Change color to dark color.
R18: Ch 3, 1 dc in each st (39 sts), Sl st in first ch. 
R19 & R20: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st (39 sts), Sl st in first ch. Cut the yarn and sew in the end. This will give little stiffness and forms the border.
Flower-
Start with dark color yarn and 2.5 mm crochet hook.
R1: Ch 4, insert hook in first chain and sl st. Thus forms a loop of 4 chains.
R2: *Ch 3, 1 sc in loop*, repeat * to * 4 times. This makes 5 petals of flower.
Change color to light color.
R3: Ch 4, insert hook in between first dark color petal and take it out through center loop and make 1 sc, *ch 3, 1 sc in next dark color petal* repeat * * 3 more times. This makes 5 loops.
R4: *1 sc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 sc* in each loop.
Attach a decorative button and fix this flower to hand warmer (watch video to see my way of attaching). This completes our Gorgeous crochet hand warmer for baby.
